Kids 4 Wheelers

When the kids see how much fun mom and dad or the older siblings are having on the full sized four wheelers, they naturally want to get in on the act. But as a parent, you know that it takes a lot of skill and strength to handle an ATV in an off road situation. So as you do with many other adult "toys", the first step is to get a four-wheeler for the youngster in your life that gives him the fun of "going off road" without the dangers.

There are a lot of designs and models of ATVs for the younger set that can fill this need nicely. If you are an four wheeling family, you are in a good position to evaluate if these toys are close enough simulations to give your child a satisfactory substitute for an adult vehicle but still be a safe miniature version of the full sized ATV that child will someday enjoy just as much as you do.

For obvious reasons, safety is always the first consideration when it comes to getting a four-wheeler that is just the right fit to your child or young person. For starters, pay attention to the consumer reports reviews of the various makes and models of four wheelers for children so you can discover any serious defects or safety concerns that have been noticed by product testers or reported by parents who have given the ATV to their kids.

A child will put his four-wheeler through a good amount of rough and tumble play. While an ATV for a child will not have an engine, it can still serve as a transportation device for the child to take him her to yards or into fields in the area around your home. You should be sure that your child has and uses a helmet even when playing with a miniature ATV. While the likelihood of a serious crash is small, if the child turns the four-wheeler on top of himself, it is better safe and sorry to have that helmet in place. Plus it is good discipline for later in life when they begin to use an adult version of that ATV where that helmet habit could save his life.

Of course, the design, paint job and general "cool look" of that children's version of a four wheeler is going to be important so that when you give your child his own smaller version of the family four wheeler, the feel is a close enough simulation to satisfy that child until he or she can grow up enough to take rides in the adult ATV. If you pay attention to what the child wants and you do all you can to buy a kids ATV that is a realistic experience to the fun and thrill you have in your four wheeler, that toy is sure to be a hit as the birthday or Christmas gift that they love the most.
